Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylan Hutchins
Hi Kaylan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi! I’m Kaylan. I’ve been a stay at home mom since my son was born and didn’t get into photography until June of 2023. Photography hasn’t always been something I’ve been extremely passionate about, after having my first baby and getting my first camera I immediately fell in love with it and it’s truly become a passion of mine. Being a mom, I realize just how important it is to capture memories. I specialize in newborns, maternity, family, and couples and really want to do more weddings.
I grew up in Pryor, Oklahoma and moved to Texas in 2020. Moving here has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself, I’ve grown SO much as a person. I found the love of my life, Austin, we’ve created 2 beautiful babies together and he’s the reason I started my photography journey.
I’m so thankful for all the friendships I’ve made through clients and am so excited for all the new people I’ll meet.
Being a mom and a photographer are the best jobs I’ll ever have!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been the easiest for me, when I was around 18 my parents got divorced. I didn’t talk to my dad for a while and mine and my mom’s relationship became toxic so we had to cut each other out of our lives for a bit. It was tough not really having my parents at the time and having to figure things out by myself but my life wouldn’t be where it is now if certain situations hadn’t happened. Everything happens for a reason and I truly believe that. I moved to Texas to live with my dad in 2020 and met my husband shortly after, who is the reason I started my photography journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a lifestyle photographer that specializes in family, couples, maternity, and my absolute favorite, newborns. I’m proud of how far I’ve come in my photography journey and the relationships I’ve grown with my clients.
I recently had someone tell me how in awe they are of my work and how I capture every raw emotion and I’m just so proud of that, that’s exactly what I strive for each session.
How do you think about happiness?
My husband and my babies are truly what makes me the happiest and I’m so happy with the little life we’re building together. I couldn’t imagine my life any other way than it is now. Even on the stressful and hard days my husband is my rock.
Another thing that makes me extremely happy is whenever I deliver a gallery and I get a reply telling me how obsessed they are with their pictures, it really is a feeling I can’t explain.
