Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Byas.
Hi Natasha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey long before I officially launched my business. I moved to the United States 10 years ago from the Dominican Republic, where I earned my degree in Economics. At the time, I never imagined that life would lead me into the creative world or that I would eventually develop an artistic talent that had been part of me since childhood.
I grew up watching my mother create beautiful things with her hands — she made crafts, designed clothing, created floral arrangements, and was always working on something creative. Even though I was naturally drawn to business, finance, and entrepreneurship, creativity was always around me without me fully realizing how much it would shape my future.
From a very young age, I loved creating and selling handmade items such as floral arrangements, leather handbags that I designed myself, necklaces, and bracelets. Those experiences taught me so much about business, negotiation, marketing, understanding customers’ needs, and how to turn creativity into something meaningful and valuable. Looking back now, I realize those early experiences prepared me for the business I have today.
Everything truly changed after becoming a mother. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I began seeing creativity differently, and after decorating her birthday parties, a passion inside of me started growing more and more every day. She became my inspiration from the very beginning. In fact, my brand carries part of her name — Dri Events — inspired by my daughter, Drianna, because everything started with her. My inspiration continues to grow now with my second child, Adrián, and as a mother of a boy, he brings me a different perspective and a new layer of creativity and purpose in everything I do.
Being a Dominican woman in the U.S., my culture, my family, and my love for celebrating meaningful moments have inspired so much of my style and the way I connect with clients. One of the most special parts of this journey is that my family is also part of my team, so everything we create comes from a place of love and unity.
What began as a passion slowly evolved into a business built with love, creativity, and purpose. Today, I’m proud that my work goes beyond decorations. I create experiences and memories for families during some of the most special moments of their lives. My journey has been a combination of entrepreneurship, creativity, culture, motherhood, and family — and I truly feel this is only the beginning.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, and I think that’s what has shaped me the most both personally and professionally. Like many entrepreneurs, especially immigrant women building something from the ground up, there were moments filled with uncertainty, sacrifices, and a lot of learning along the way.
As an immigrant, there were also very personal challenges that shaped my journey deeply. Moving to the United States from a Spanish-speaking country meant facing the language barrier, which at times made me feel limited in how I expressed myself professionally and personally. On top of that, adapting to a new system, a different culture, and a fast-paced environment while trying to build a future from scratch was not easy. I made the decision to pursue growth and opportunity, even if that meant being far from my immediate family and support system, which was one of the most emotionally challenging parts of this journey.
There was also a very personal transition in my path that I didn’t expect. I studied Economics and business, so naturally I imagined myself building a career in that direction. But life slowly guided me somewhere completely different — into a creative world I had always been close to, but never fully stepped into as a profession. At first, it felt unfamiliar and even intimidating to trust myself in something that didn’t come with a clear roadmap for me. I had to learn to believe in my own creativity, give myself permission to grow in a new space, and accept that I didn’t need to have everything figured out from the beginning. Over time, what once felt uncertain became one of my greatest strengths. My background in business didn’t disappear — it actually became the foundation that helped me structure my creativity, understand my clients better, and build my brand with intention, strategy, and purpose.
As a creative entrepreneur, there’s also pressure behind the scenes that people don’t always see. Social media can make things look perfect, but running an event business requires constant problem-solving, adapting quickly, and handling stressful situations calmly. Every event comes with responsibility because clients are trusting you with meaningful moments in their lives.
But honestly, every obstacle taught me something valuable. The difficult moments helped me grow stronger, more resilient, and more intentional about the business and life I want to build. Looking back, I’m grateful for the challenges because they pushed me to become the woman and entrepreneur I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in event design and full event production, creating complete setups that include balloon installations, floral arrangements, and custom styling for all types of celebrations.
I work on a wide range of events, including birthdays, baby showers, corporate events, and private celebrations. My services also extend beyond decor, offering bounce house and bubble house rentals, table and chair rentals, as well as beautifully curated table setups and décor styling.
In addition, I provide flower bar experiences, custom personalized items, and seasonal decorations, including Christmas setups for both homes and businesses. Each service is designed to create a unique atmosphere and elevate every occasion into a memorable experience.
My goal is not just to decorate a space, but to create a complete visual and emotional experience that reflects each client’s story and vision. Every project starts with understanding my client — their style, their expectations, and the feeling they want to create for their event. From there, I design and bring together every detail with intention, making sure everything feels cohesive, elegant, and meaningful.
What I love most about my work is that it allows me to combine creativity with purpose. No two events are ever the same, and that constantly challenges me to innovate, grow, and bring something unique to every celebration I design.
What does success mean to you?
For me, success is not just about achievements or numbers, it’s about alignment and purpose. I define success as being able to wake up every day doing what I love, using my creativity to create meaningful experiences for others, while staying true to who I am.
It’s also about growth and resilience — building something from passion, overcoming challenges, and continuing to evolve without giving up on my vision. On a personal level, success is peace: being able to work with my family, managing my time and build a life that feels balanced and fulfilling.
Ultimately, success is feeling fulfilled in the journey, not just in the destination.
