Today we’d like to introduce you to Nini Doucet
Hi Nini, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I came back to the states after living in Ireland with my family for over 20 years and came to austin knowing no one originally as a cosmetologist. After living here for a year, I started a Facebook group to meet other women and get out of the house, and it turned into what it is today. My first meet up was starbucks and target run with 5 girls and now we have so many different events with 20+ women attending at times
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Its been kind of smooth.
In the very beginning I struggled with what events to do and having people commit to attending.
Other than that, I have had some issues with group admins with similar groups like mine stating I’m‘copying’ them which is very untrue. Especially considering I started before them.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I run an all women event meet up in the Austin area along with being in cosmetology and also regaining my license for real estate.
I most proud of how I made it back to the states. I got here from being noticed on instagram for my hairdressing, and I’m so proud of having the opportunity to bring people together in a really fun way.
What are your plans for the future?
I recently rebranded to Austin Girl Crew. I’m planning bigger and better events next year with the hope of gaining some sponsors
