Rising Stars: Meet Sami Garrett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sami Garrett.

Hi Sami, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been drawn to areas where there isn’t a black and white or a “right” way to do something and instead moving with what feels good. Which makes a lot of sense for where I am today.

Today, I’m a mom and lover of aliveness in life. After a rough second postpartum filled with rage and questioning if I had made a huge mistaken and if I would ever laugh again, I set out to change the way we off motherhood support as a society.

We already have to advocate so hard for ourselves and don’t know what we don’t know and are seriously lacking nourishing community. There is plenty of community and information out there that make us feel like shit- and we don’t need that. I wanted to change that. And I wanted to change that alongside other mothers with a similar mission.

That is how Good Enough Matrescence came to life. It is now a global motherhood collective providing empowering information, resources, tools, support and nourishing community to moms who don’t want to lose themselves in motherhood while also being devoted to their children.

It’s a space that fits our life and doesn’t ask us to completely overhaul it. It doesn’t make us feel bad for wanting different things and instead celebrates when we are in alignment and coherence with our self as mothers. And the best part is it follows us through motherhood, from pregnancy all the way to menopause and beyond.

We’re rewriting what our motherhood experience gets to look like and creating the new standard. And we’re doing it together.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly the biggest struggle has been that mothers as a whole don’t value themselves. I was one of them too. We put ourselves last and feel selfish if we have needs and desires.

Most moms agree that they are important yet don’t actually believe it and we then live in a depleted, overwhelmed, overstimulated, drowing state and that’s what we’re looking to change.

It’s still a bumpy road and we have a long way to go to get tona place were we truly understand that when a mom enjoys her motherhood, she can be a better parent for her children. That actually living in a depleted state is not helpful for anyone.

There are many of us out there that know in our souls there has to be another way and are finally coming together in creating this.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love the magic of the mind and play there often. The nervous system and subconscious mind mixed with our body is a fascinating place to experience whatever it is we want in life. It’s quite magical when we honor both and get curious about both and even better when we start creating our experiences.

I’m known for some of my active meditations and yoga experiences and really pulling out some unrealized themes in life through normal conversations:)

I am post proud of my inner self and how much I truly love myself. That was a long time coming and it’s such a worthwhile journey.

What sets me apart from others is that I empower you to empower yourself. We have so much power and magic inside and often give it away to others. I truly love finding genuine connection and love seeing when people move through their life in alignment with them.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Holding the vision and mission and just taking steps towards it. That has been the biggest thing. Also the fact that there is no one right way to do anything has made it fun to turn this journey into an adventure where you can’t mess up, it’s just part of the journey.
