Today we’d like to introduce you to SJ Mokrycki.
Hi SJ, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Color has never just been something I see, it’s something I feel. It’s my language, my lens, and my earliest form of self-expression. That pull toward color, light, and composition, the ability to communicate without saying a word, led me into design, branding, and project management, where I spent years helping businesses bring their ideas to life and scale toward something greater. But outside of work, a different path was emerging: I was quietly studying yoga, sound, and color healing, drawn to the energy beneath the visual. Eventually, those two worlds blended, and True to Hue came into light.
Today, I blend creativity, intuition, and a lifelong love of color to curate experiences that hold space for people to reconnect with themselves. Through aura photography, intuitive color readings, and sound healing, my goal is simple: help others see themselves in a new light. Literally.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When you set out to do something that’s never been done before, you learn how to make your own way forward. Some of what people would call the worst experiences of my life led me to where I am today, and I’m so grateful for that. I’ve gone down some strange paths, and it’s been amazing, because if you’re not being challenged, you’re not growing. I’ve had to rebuild my life more than once. Those moments were hard, but they’re also where I found my resilience, my grit, and confidence in my own abilities.
Supporting other owners to expand their businesses has given me deep insight into refining my own vision, and into every role it takes to make something like this succeed. Is it hard? Absolutely. Is it my dream? Without question.
That’s the beauty of it. It’s never just one thing, it’s part strategy, part play, part practitioner, and so much more. It’s creating space for the full spectrum of human experience, and getting to witness it up close, every time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I help people see themselves, and shed light on the parts of them that have been sitting in the dark.
My work blends creativity, intuition, and personal reflection through aura photography and color-based experiences. What sets it apart is thatI’m not here to tell you who you are, I’m not here to make claims about “healing” you. I’m here to create the space for you to recognize it for yourself. The colors are just the starting point for conversation, curiosity, and true (hue) connection.
I’m especially proud of building a business that reflects my own values. Every experience is designed to feel thoughtful, welcoming, and accessible, so that people leave feeling more connected to themselves than when they arrived.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people don’t know, I studied painting and photography in art school. From there, I got my start silk-screening for renowned artists like Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, and others showcased at the Gagosian in NYC. Life then led me to creating murals and hand-painted signs, where I kept exploring color as a visual language – bold, bright and impossible to ignore.
Over the years, I have continued to cultivate and expand this vocabulary of color beyond what meets the eye. My exploration of Reiki, which began in 2007, merged my knowledge of energy work with my visual arts background, weaving together the healing power of color and creative expression. My fascination with the transformative power of color deepened after studying Jacob Liberman’s Spectral Receptivity System, which opened a whole new dimension of light and life exploration. The end of 2022 put me on a path towards aura photography, and it’s been an absolute dream ever since.
I have the honor of capturing and interpreting subtle energy fields, transforming that information into empowering, metaphysical insight. Color supports our emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. It is a joy to help others connect with their energy and discover the transformative power of being true to hue.
