Story & Lesson Highlights with Amber de la Rosa

We recently had the chance to connect with Amber de la Rosa and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Recently, my daughter had her first mariachi performance, and I don’t think I’ve ever felt prouder. She was nervous and has only just started learning Spanish, but she went out there with so much courage and did her best. Watching her embrace her roots and try something completely new reminded me how important it is to keep pushing ourselves, even when it’s uncomfortable. It filled me with pride and gratitude.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Amber De La Rosa, and I’m the founder of La Cultura Market, a vibrant market/ festival created to celebrate and uplift Hispanic entrepreneurs, artists, and small business owners. What started as a small community event has grown into something much bigger, rooted in culture, family, and connection. Each market brings together food, art, music, and handmade goods that reflect the spirit of our community.

Right now, we’re working on expanding La Cultura Market to other cities, but staying true to its authenticity is our top priority. Every market has its own local heartbeat, and we want to make sure that wherever we go, that same sense of culture, warmth, and belonging carries through. It’s exciting to see how something that began as a local idea is growing into a movement that connects people through culture.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship with my husband has completely shaped how I see myself, not just as a partner, but as a dreamer and a doer. He’s the person who believes in every idea I have, even the wild ones, and helps me bring them to life. Behind every market and event, he’s there. He is building, lifting, and making things happen quietly in the background. His faith in me has helped me find faith in myself. He never tells me something is too much or too far out of reach; instead, he reminds me that I’m capable, strong, and enough. Because of him, I’ve learned that the limits I once saw were never really there.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Honestly, right now feels like one of those times. As the market has grown, so has everything that comes with it. The pressure, the expectations, the constant feeling that there’s always something else I should be doing. I’m still working my full-time job, juggling life as a mom, my daughter’s extra extracurriculars (her schedule is just as busy as mine), and some days it feels like I’m stretched so thin I don’t even recognize myself. There are moments I sit back and wonder if I can really keep doing it all.

But then I think about why I started. I started this for my family, for my community, and for the people who believe in what La Cultura Market represents. This isn’t just an event; it’s a space that celebrates our culture and gives others a chance to shine. Even when I’m exhausted or overwhelmed, that purpose keeps pulling me back in. I’ve learned that it’s okay to feel tired. It just means I care deeply about what I’m building.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m deeply committed to creating spaces that celebrate and uplift the Hispanic community. Through La Cultura Market, I’ve seen how powerful it is when people feel seen, represented, and proud of where they come from. It’s more than just a market. It’s a movement to ensure that our culture continues to thrive and be shared in authentic ways.

Even when progress feels slow or the work is overwhelming, I remind myself that change takes time. Representation isn’t built overnight; it’s built through every event, conversation, and connection we make. I’m in it for the long haul because our stories deserve to be told, and our culture deserves to be celebrated in every city, every space, and every generation that comes after us.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. In many ways, I already do. So much of what I pour my time and energy into happens quietly, behind the scenes. There are things most people will never see or even know I was a part of. But that’s never why I do it.

I do it because I care. I care about my community, about the people whom I impact, about the difference these moments can have. Recognition has never been the goal. That’s why you rarely see me post about myself. And when I do, it’s usually because someone encouraged me to share it.

For me, the reward isn’t in the praise, it’s in knowing I’m making a difference, even if no one’s watching.
