We’re looking forward to introducing you to Brian Verrett. Check out our conversation below.
Brian, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
Passion Im always chasing things that I am passionate about whether it’s Cars or Dungeons And Dragons or different ways to do a cosplay I am always chasing something and honestly I don’t what I would do if I stopped, I feel I would lose a part of myself and just wouldn’t know what to do anymore.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi my name is Brian Verrett and I am the Founder and Head Geek In Charge of Geeksquire.
We are a small content creating group that mainly deals with Nerd and things that are considered nerdy (Marvel, Dc, Star wars, cosplay and more) and try to bring a positive and fun environment to a vastly negative world.
We’ve been making content across You Tube, Instagram and Tik Tok for now 10 years now and have made well over +1000 videos covering movies, games, cosplayers, artists, actors and everything in between.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That being myself wasn’t going to get me anywhere, That being kind and caring about people wasn’t going to make me popular and honestly I’ve really never cared about that I’ve always tried to be myself as authentically as possible and doing that has gotten me into places I didn’t expect and friends that I genuinely didn’t expect like becoming friends with one of the stuntmen from the loki show off of Disney plus to having a wwe styled wwe promo on wwe superstar Xavier woods challenging him to game of need for speed being myself has led on a wild journey.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
2020 was one of the hardest years I have ever had to deal with, we had so many things planned and event we were going to do all just went up in smoke when the pandemic happen and I had nothing but work and more work so I wasn’t able to make anything really and then tik tok came along and out of nowhere we just started gaining momentum again and I started just pumping out videos and making connections with other creators and then the government and trump wants the app banned and unbanned and banned again and now its much harder for smaller creators to really get momentum..but…I genuinely love making content and I love bringing people smlies even if it’s just for a moment if I make people happy then I won’t give up.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That A.i. is the future for art.
Art is pain, Art is struggle, Art is a process and A.I. takes all of that away it takes away the passion and love of it, Art makes you work for it from finding the right spot for a photo to hours sitting in a room making it look just right and A.I. you can just type it in and it gives it to you perfect no work no struggle just there and most cases it just loveless and passionless work, you need people who give a damn about Art for art to thrive, for movies to thrive, for comics to thrive, for games to thrive, for books to thrive for the entire Industry to thrive.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I kept trying even when it made no sense to try when everything went wrong and fell apart that I kept trying to bring people joy and happiness and hope and love that no matter who you are I showed you love and I brought joy to your day, I live by alot of qoutes and Bible verses but one of them hit the hardest and was from the movie The Untouchables with Kevin Costner “Never Stop Fighting Until The Fight Is Won” and my fight is far from done.
