Story & Lesson Highlights with Cristal Garcia Marin of North of Austin

We recently had the chance to connect with Cristal Garcia Marin and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Cristal, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
To follow Christ! I mean… I dont think i trully devoted life to Christ how i do now. and it has changed my life completly and has filled me with so much peace.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello everyone! Iam so happy to be part of this, and so excided to tell you more about me and my business in a deeper level. I offer photography and Digital Art such as personalized cartoons or logos. I remember being 17 and selling paiting for 100 bucks back in high school, ever since i always knew i had a passion for Art, but its throughout my Digital Art that i found my love for photography and fantacy photoshop. Digital Art is really where it all started, were my business started to bloom the paintings, the Digital Art and logos. it all beging with just a cell phone untill eventually i was able to afford my very first camera, and in all honestly buying a camera was for my hobbies, i really wanted to learn how to create art with images, how to make my images into a story and into a fantasy and people saw my vision my work grew very quickly throughtout the years and 5 years later i still have alot of does loyal clients still in my life, some of them even became close friends 🙂
alot of people that belived in me is what helped me see a bigger dream to keep pushing for more.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I can say that i started taking my power back and the power on my confidence just nearly 3 years ago, when i started working on myself and taking care of myself. Being in Business a wife and a mom can take such huge toll in life. and alot of times being a parent gets you stuck in a routine were eventually it leads to depression. Thats exacly what happened to me for years! But with the grace of God and alot of time alone in the gym it helped me heal alot of open scars. Its throughout the gym were i met God and it helped me alot find my way to were iam now, in a much better spot mentally, spiritually and physically.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I did… and very badly. I lost everything in 2023-2024 probably one of the worst years of my life. I lost Family I lost my home and the only thing i had left to held on was my beautiful children and my camera. When i lost my home in Elgin tx i left with nothing but my clolthes, my children and my camera. i had to start life all over again, i felt has if the entire world fell on my shoulders. My children and I suffered alot of mental Abused in that old home with their father, and Iam okay with speaking about it. Iam very open and blunt about my life with my followers, thats what allows me to connect with the public so much because i dont hide my life, alot of people relate to me and thats how i connect with my followers and clients, connection is very important to me. so yes there was a time i felt that i lost it all and i almost gaved up but i prayed so much, i prayed like i never have bfore in my life and God saved me and he heard me, He gave me a chance to redo my life next to my babies and now with an amazing partner who loves my children so deeply and never forgets to remind me of his love and kidness. Part of my journey to forgiving and to keep on pushing was through my partner his name is Robert, through his willigness to walk the path of Christ with us, to showing my children what a real family should look like, and what real love in a family should feel like. through that is what helped me push forward it helped me realized that myself as well as everyone else deserves a happy life that even when you lose it all, God has a plan on the other side and he will bless you with so much more you just have to have faith even when at the moment all you see is darkness.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I believe that my closest friends know what really matters to me and what I have always stood for: it’s being myself, my character, and just being who I truly am and not just putting on a persona for social media as we see many people doing these days. Being myself matters to me so much because even just being transparent, kind, and understanding has helped me grow and has helped me keep alot of loyal clients. No one likes bad customer service. So if you are one of those people who are just nasty and unprofessional with people why even do what you do, you know?
fix yourself, be kind and treat people how you want to be treated, who you are inside plays a huge role in how far you want to go and how many connections you want to build with other business owners and clients.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I want people to remember my light and the dark from me. How even through depression and anxiety, I did my very best to paint the world colorful. That my entire existence and career were based on seeing the world as a better world, even when my own world was falling apart. Remember me as the girl who saw the best in you no matter how your past looked like. A woman who fought every single demon in her for a better and happier life with her children. A reminder that even through your darkest time there is always good that comes after you just have to hold on a little longer and keep going.
