Story & Lesson Highlights with Dr. Ben Rotman of South Congress

We recently had the chance to connect with Dr. Ben Rotman and have shared our conversation below.

Ben, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
When I am working with someone or a group in a session, I get into this state of complete present time consciousness. It is like being so dialed in that I forget about everything else. Flow state, if you will. It is not an absence of time but more like being in lockstep with it.

There is a presence in the dance when I am fully tuned in to what is happening with a client, their body, and their energy, and I am simply following where it leads. By the end, I almost always feel more energized than when I started.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Dr. Ben Rotman, a chiropractor by trait and founder of Creative Care Chiropractic here in Austin. My work blends hands-on care with energy-based approaches to help people feel more connected, resilient, and in tune with themselves. My work is to help people tap into a higher level of health and possibility.

What makes it unique is the mix of science, intuition, and presence I bring into each session. I draw from a range of modalities, so no two sessions are ever quite the same, and for me it is all about meeting people where they are and guiding them toward where they want to be. Even if they’re not quite sure, I help bring them to a state of clarity around their purpose and passion.

Right now I am focused on growing Creative Care into a space that is more than a clinic. A healing studio, almost. A place where people come for transformation, whether that is physical, emotional, or even a shift in how they approach life.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
As corny as it may sound, nature has taught me the most about my work. It is this constant reminder that everything has its own rhythm and pace. You can’t rush a seed to grow, and you definitely can’t force a tree to straighten. My job is similar in the sense that it is about creating the right conditions, paying attention to subtle changes, and trusting that transformation will happen in its own time if you stay present and patient.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell him, you are going to be okay. You do not have to have it all figured out right now. Trust the big turns and unexpected pauses, illnesses, and all the other weird stuff. They are going to shape you in ways that make sense later. And along the way, do not forget to actually enjoy the ride.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d probably say it is connection. With people, with nature, with myself, music, you name it. I care a lot about having real, honest conversations, spending time in spaces that feel super alive, and helping people feel more like themselves.

At work with clients or just hanging out with myself or friends, which more often than not feels the same, I am most at home when there is that genuine sense of being present with each other.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Oh man, I would probably stop overthinking and second-guessing myself. I would trade a lot of the mental planning and hesitation for more time actually doing the things that matter to me. I make it a point to call people I love every day and to be with them as much as I can.

I have had a few really close calls with death, so there is very little I take for granted. My heart belongs to traveling, creating, and putting my work out there without waiting for the perfect moment.
