Story & Lesson Highlights with Ellie Burck

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ellie Burck. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Ellie , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
This sounds SO simple, but getting the privledge of walking my son to school in the morning. Getting to start the day off (while the world around us is still pretty quiet overall) just walking and talking about the possibilities of the day before us is something that brings me so much joy. I know he enjoys it, too. It’s also something that, 20 years from now, I know both of us will look back on fondly.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hiiiii 🙂 I’m Ellie, an astrologer and owner of Saturn Season Astrology….where astrology reading and tarot reading magic happens!

What makes Saturn Season Astrology interesting? I take a holistic approach and don’t stick to just one school of astrology (blending modern & traditional schools of thought). Eclectic Astrology is what I call the kind of astrology that I “do”. In 2015 I got my bachelors in psychology, and while I am not a psychologist I DO often take a psychological approach to reading for people. Numerous clients have relayed that a reading with me was better than “several years of therapy”. So I would think having my educational background and being trauma informed makes my practice unique. Astrology is in my lifeblood and soul – I’ve been a student of this discipline since I was in elementary school (I’m almost 38 now) and Saturn Season Astrology is almost 7 years old. I’m in this for the long haul and not going anywhere which also stands out in an oversaturated and unfortunantely, fly-by-night market.

Right now I’m currently doing astrology readings of all varieties. These include (but aren’t limited to) birth chart readings, transit/forecast readings, past life & present mission readings, galactic astrology readings, relationship astrology readings…along with a bunch of other types of readings (including tarot)! Also still very involved in galactic astrology research and thinking about writing a book on my research findings over the past almost 5 years. Should I end up going this way, it wouldn’t be my first time writing a book – I co-created (and did the writing for) the Star Cards (they can be found for sale on my website). These are a unique deck of cards and accompanying book that teach people the language of astrology (how to read an astrology chart) in a very visual way.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Ah, that depends so much on what you mean by “work” (because there are so many different types of work!).

My grandfather taught me a lot about business (whether he realizes it or not). He owns a roofing company here in Austin and I did secretarial work for him part time in the early 2000’s. Watching how he ran his company and how he treated customers left an impression on me that has carried over to the way that I conduct myself in my own astrology practice.

My mom and my grandmother taught me a lot about work as well. My mom was a single mother and busted her ass to make sure that me and my siblings were taken care of. My grandmother was a homemaker, but I watched all the care and work it took to be a stay-at-home mom/grandma. So much was learned and absorbed by being in their orbit.

HONESTLY though, EVERYONE in my life (throughout my whole life) has taught me something about the notion of “work.” My son teaches me that when you put in the (foundational) “work” that it takes to be parent, you get to see your child absolutely bloom and flourish (which is amazing for him…and for me). My husband teaches me that romantic relationships shouldn’t feel like constant & draining work (which is all I had ever known before him), but that the work that you DO put into a relationship can be so rewarding (especially when both people are putting that work in….which ends up not feeling like work at all).

On the flip side of the wonderful humans mentioned above, I have had contact with people who taught me what happens when you don’t put in the work necessary (in whatever capacity). These people taught me what I didn’t want to be and what I didn’t want to do.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
“Little girl, I know it’s hard right now but I promise it gets better. Once you get into your 30’s everything gets so much better.”

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
It really, really is (for better or worse 🤣). What you see IS what you get! The only way that I’m different is that in private life I’m pretty quiet (and I’m much more introverted than I probably appear on YouTube, in my blog posts, etc.).

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
What I was born to do. This wasn’t evident to me until after my first Saturn Return and the birth of my son. One day it dawned on me “Ellie, this is what you NEED to be doing.” Before this dawned on me, never in my life would I have thought that “astrologer” could be my career title (but it is!).
