Story & Lesson Highlights with Erica Clark of South Austin

Erica Clark shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Erica, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’m being called to step fully into my voice and my purpose in a way I used to be afraid of. For a long time, I held back — out of fear of what people might think or whether I was ‘enough.’ But now, I’m walking boldly in it through Satiable Skin LLC and my ebook, Heart First, Sale Second. Both are not just projects, but reflections of me choosing courage over fear. And this is only the beginning — I’ll also be using my voice in other ways beyond the treatment room and beyond the pages of my ebook. This season is about honoring alignment, faith, and the work I know I’ve been created to do.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Erica, the founder of Satiable Skin LLC, a home based boutique facial suite where I bring the same level of excellence and care I learned while working in a Forbes-rated luxury spa. I specialize in creating safe, results-driven treatments with a focus on sensitive and oncology skincare. My mission has always been to help people feel seen, cared for, and confident in their own skin.

Alongside the treatment room, I’m also the author of Heart First, Sale Second, an ebook designed to guide estheticians and entrepreneurs in building trust with clients and creating authentic, lasting connections that lead to success.

What makes my work unique is that it’s not just about skin or sales — it’s about healing, empowerment, and alignment. My story and my work are deeply rooted in faith, purpose, and resilience, and I’m committed to bringing that into everything I do.

And this is just the beginning. Beyond the treatment room and my ebook, I’m stepping into new spaces where my voice will carry even further — offering tools, teaching, and inspiration in ways that I’ve only just begun to reveal.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that has served its purpose and must now be released is the version of myself that stayed quiet because I couldn’t see past surviving. For years, I thought shrinking myself, avoiding hard truths, or settling for less was the way to get by. The truth is, I wasn’t keeping peace — I was building walls to protect myself. Those walls served their purpose, but they also blocked me from seeing my own reflection, my own grace, and my own growth.

That season shaped me — it gave me resilience, sharpened my discernment, and taught me strength — but it no longer fits where I’m going. I’m in a revival season now. Silence no longer protects me; alignment does. I’m surrendering those walls because it’s time for release and time to walk boldly into purpose.

I’ve learned that alignment requires courage, not comfort. Whether I’m behind the treatment room door with Satiable Skin or sharing my skills through my ebook Heart First, Sale Second, I’m committed to leading with clarity, honesty, and heart — and to finally seeing myself fully.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me what survival really looks like when there’s no spotlight, no recognition, and no applause. Success celebrates what you’ve built, but suffering strips everything down and shows you what you’re made of.

Through loss, heartbreak, and seasons of silence, I learned resilience. I learned how to breathe when it felt like the air was gone, how to create when nothing around me looked like possibility, and how to see myself even when I felt invisible. Success never taught me that — survival did.

Those painful seasons became my classroom. They sharpened my discernment, deepened my compassion, and gave me a voice I now use to serve others. I wouldn’t have the resilience or authenticity I bring to my clients, my writing, or my own healing today. Suffering became the soil that produced my purpose.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A belief I’m committed to, no matter how long it takes, is that God’s hand has always been on my life — in my mess and in my success. Even when I couldn’t see myself, He was guiding me. That truth keeps me grounded: what I survive and what I build are both part of His plan.

That’s why I’m committed to purpose work — whether it looks like coaching a student through their first facial as an esthetics instructor, or holding space for clients in the treatment room through Satiable Skin. It’s not just about teaching skills or providing services; it’s about using my voice, my story, and my faith to create safe spaces for healing, growth, and clarity.

For me, the timeline doesn’t matter, because purpose is not rushed. I believe in walking it out one step at a time, with alignment, courage, and obedience. As long as I keep God at the center, I know the work will reach who it’s meant to reach — in His timing, not mine.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me is that I lived honestly—through the mess and the success—and that I never stopped choosing alignment with God over comfort. That I was a woman who walked through grief, survival, and revival, yet still poured into others with clarity, authenticity, and heart.

When I’m gone, I don’t want to only be remembered for the facials I gave through Satiable Skin or the wisdom I shared in Heart First, Sale Second. I want people to remember the way I coached them into their own becoming—whether through conversation, mentorship, or simply the way I showed up in the room.

My legacy isn’t just about building businesses or writing books; it’s about creating spaces where people felt safe enough to heal and bold enough to grow. If the story of my life teaches anything, I hope it’s that God was faithful in every season, that becoming never ends, and that the light inside of us is meant to illuminate others.

I especially want my son Micah to be proud of his mother. To see that her resilience, faith, and vision were not just for herself but a roadmap for him. And to know that any vision he carries, God will make a way — and no matter the storms, God will see him through.
