We’re looking forward to introducing you to Katelyn Langley. Check out our conversation below.
Katelyn, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I’m most proud of building isn’t something people can necessarily see on a balance sheet or in a photo. It’s the quiet foundation-the values I work hard to instill at home with my kids, and in our company culture. At home, it’s raising boys who are kind, brave, and confident. At work, it’s building and maintaining an environment where people feel respected, cared for, and part of something bigger. My goal is to help every person on our team reach their full potential and hit their professional and personal goals. That’s what matters most to me because these things will last longer than any title or milestone.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Katelyn Langley, and I’m the CEO of Maids and Moore, one of the larger independent residential cleaning services in the country. I’m also a wife, a mom to two boys, and someone who deeply values family. And I consider the Maids and Moore team part of my family.
What makes Maids and Moore special isn’t just our success or growth-it’s our company culture. I grew up with strong country roots, watching my grandparents live out the values of honesty, grit, and taking care of people, and I’ve carried those lessons into how I lead. Our brand is built on people, on trust, and on a mission to create happiness for both our customers and our team.
Right now, I’m focused on continuing to grow Maids and Moore in a way that never loses that culture. For me, it’s not just about building a business, it’s about building something that supports families, creates opportunities for our employees, and makes life a little easier for the people we serve.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
The person who taught me the most about work was my grandpa. He was the kind of person who believed in doing things the right way, even if nobody was watching. What my grandpa showed me is that work isn’t measured by a paycheck, but by the pride you take in it, the honesty you carry, and the way you show up for others. He taught me that your word is the most important thing you have, that grit matters, and that hard work pays off. Those lessons have shaped not just how I lead, but how I try to live every day. And I’m definitely still a work in progress! Everyday, I’m trying to be a better person than I was yesterday.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I had to pick one thing, I’d tell my younger self that she’s a lot tougher than she thinks.
That it’s okay to not have it all figured out, because every hard moment is shaping her into the person she’ll become. I’d tell her to believe in herself the way she believes in others. And I’d tell her to slow down sometimes to soak in those family moments that seem so simple, because those are the things she’ll carry forever.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe that success meant being able to do everything on my own. Looking back, that was wrong. I’ve learned that real strength is in building an amazing team, mentoring others, and letting people shine in what they’re best at. It’s not a weakness to trust other or delegate-it’s actually how you grow, both in business and in life.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe I’m doing what I was born to do. For a long time, like many people, I felt pulled by what others expected of me, but being exactly where I am today and leading Maids and Moore has shown me that I was made for this. It’s not just about running a business-it’s about serving people, creating opportunities, and building something that makes life better for families and for my team. I wasn’t told to do this. I carved my own way, even when it wasn’t easy. And while I’m still learning and growing, I know in my heart this is exactly where I’m meant to be.
