Story & Lesson Highlights with Malinda Sloan of Belton

We recently had the chance to connect with Malinda Sloan and have shared our conversation below.

Malinda, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
How fun people can be! Seriously, I always thought my little family was so silly and weird, until I met other people. It is so refreshing to see families being their own thing. I am all here for the tickles, giggles, and funny moments.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! Welcome to the chaos!

I am a wife, a mother, and a full-time business owner. I am Malinda. I run a photography business named, Malinda Sloan Photography which specializes in documenting all things motherhood. When I am not working (which is never), I am running to softball games, eating lunch at the school with the kids, walking the dogs, gardening, and constantly cleaning. Life is busy, but oh so rich. Come stop by for some coffee, it’s always needed and brewing.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My husband. Yes, he is not a photographer, but he is the hardest worker I know. He puts in long hours, long days, and always believed in me. He has encouraged and supported this idea beyond what I even thought it could be.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell myself to stop doubting and just jump in and believe more in myself. I would yell it!

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family and Faith. Number One. At times, I have to stop, reflect, regroup and focus on my foundation which is in the Lord. Sundays are about rest, worship, and my family.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
Out in nature with my babies. God is so good. Texas is stunning. If I ever feel down or feel the weight of the world is so heavy, I talk a walk. Anyone want to go scouting new spots with me? The Hill Country is unreal.
