Susanna Medrano’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Susanna Medrano and have shared our conversation below.

Susanna, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of building leaders behind the scenes. Titles, production, and recognition are public — but the quiet work of mentoring someone into their confidence, helping them step into leadership, or teaching them how to navigate failure is what fulfills me most. These moments don’t make social media, but they build lasting impact and legacy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Susanna Medrano, Partner and National Sales & Leadership Coach at Watters International Realty. I coach and mentor real estate professionals across the country, helping them sharpen their skills, build confidence, and step into leadership. What makes my journey unique is that I started with very little in this industry, and through persistence and people believing in me, I now get to pour that same belief into others. Right now, I’m working on my upcoming book Give It Hell, a leadership framework rooted in grit, resilience, and authenticity. It’s more than a book — it’s becoming a brand and a movement.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My parents. My mom taught me strength, faith, and grit; my dad modeled hard work and sacrifice. Their example gave me both the drive and humility to chase big dreams while staying grounded in family and legacy.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Yes — my boss and mentor, Chris Watters. He has an intensity about him, but he always made space to hear me out, even when my ideas were raw or uncomfortable. That gave me the courage to push past self-doubt and step fully into leadership.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
For the most part, yes. What people see — the energy, drive, and belief in others — is very much who I am. The only difference is that privately, I wrestle with doubts and insecurities like anyone else. I just choose to turn them into fuel.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
Not giving Give It Hell everything I’ve got. This book — and the brand it’s growing into — is my chance to help people break out of comfort zones, chase their potential, and lead with courage. If I don’t fully commit to sharing it with the world, I’ll regret holding back.
