We’re looking forward to introducing you to Wendi Ramirez. Check out our conversation below.
Wendi, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Letting go of many things and many people in order to put myself as a larger priority and make necessary changes to become established in a new region. I’m headed to the mountains. I see a more simplistic life and distinct sanctuary where I can evolve.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Wendi Ramirez. I am 53 years old and I’ve been tattooing since I was 18. I’ve had the pleasure of opening three shops in my time. I currently share Dovetail Tattoo East with my partner, Brian Ramirez. I’ve been blessed to have had many quality artists share space in our shops throughout the last 18 years or so. I feel good about helping many individuals get started in the business as well.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Standing up to bullies in grade school.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That less could be best in enabling you to focus and be present. Slow down and appreciate your accomplishments. To be satisfied and thankful. To let go of control in order to rest.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That it is more important to be an influencer on social media than it is to be an artist personally connecting with your clientele and respecting the hard work it takes someone to play by the rules that developed this industry in the first place.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Stop enduring anyone I find to be insincere. I would utilize whatever money I had to travel or develop something that’s going to aid others positively while strengthening their memory of you. Maybe increase my life insurance policy.
